Submitting Your Final Plan of Study

Although the Registrar’s Office deadline is the fourth week of your final semester, your plan first needs to be approved by your faculty advisor and then by Inda Watrous, so we ask that you follow the deadlines and directions below.

December grads can walk in Commencement the May after they finish their degree.

August grads can walk in Commencement the May before they finish their degree. To be sure you are included in May Commencement you must apply for graduation within the first four weeks of your final spring semester.

Below are written directions on how to apply for graduation and submit your final plan of study based on your expected graduation term. You can also access a step-by-step PowerPoint guide.

Submitting your Final Plan of Study:

Although you have until the fourth week of your last semester to submit your final plan of study, it is recommended that you submit once you have finalized your schedule before add/drop ends in case any schedule changes are necessary.

In order to submit your final plan of study, you must navigate to the "Academic Requirements" page in student admin. Starting in your Student Center, select "Academic Requirements" from the drop-down menu on the left side of the page. Once on the "My Academic Requirements" page, click "Submit Final Plan of Study." Note that this button will only display if you have applied for graduation. On the next page click "OK" and you will be taken to the Final Plan of Study Comments page. This is where you will submit your related courses. This is also where you would list info about pending transfer credit or other explanations.

Related Courses

You must list 12 credits of upper level non-English coursework and briefly explain how the courses connect to your English degree. This information should be added to the comment box that appears on the Final Plan of Study Comments page. Be prepared with this information in advance.

When you have listed your 12 credits of related coursework and provided brief explanations, click "OK" to send your request to your advisor. You should receive a confirmation email in your UConn inbox confirming receipt of your Final Plan of Study approval request.

Status of your Final Plan of Study

To check on the status of your Final Plan of Study approval request, once again navigate to the drop-down menu on the left of your Student Center in student admin. In the menu, find "Plan of Study Approvals." On your Plan of Study Approvals page you can see the approval status of your final plan of study, as well as review and add comments.
